Mandate Relief Proposals – NYSAC

October 8, 2012 Leave a comment

The New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC)  released a report on mandates and how elimination of  many of these could save local government and taxpayers money. There are 54 recommendations covering services such as Medicaid,  Pre-School Special Education, public assistance, child welfare and others.

The report is part of an initiative called 9 for 90 – which is focused on the idea that mandates covering 9 service areas comprise 90% of the county property tax levy statewide.
