Brian Hassett Named New CEO of United Way of the Greater Capital Region

The Business Review has posted the announcement of Brian Hassett’s appointment as President of the United Way of the Greater Capital Region as of September 12. Hassett is a veteran of several United Way nad other not for profit posts in Illinois and Arizona, and spent part of his early professional career in the Capital Region.

Hassett takes over for longtime CEO Kathy Pelham who is stepping down after a 30-year career to pursue new opportunities. Kathy was feted by her United Way colleagues from across the state at their summer meeting.

CSEA and OMCE Promote Use of 2-1-1 For Post Storm Assistance

From Craig Fligstein – UWLI reports that they were without power for some time. However the office is now open and the email server back-on line. All staff are safe and well.

From NYS Dept of Homeland Security – The state has issued a new situation report this morning. This is particularly useful with regional and county-by-county summaries of status. Click on  NYS Situation Report 8-31’11 am  to read this update.
